TWO-STAGE GENTEX IRON RECIPROCATING AIR COMPRESSORS
A reciprocating compressor uses pistons driven shafts to deliver air at high pressure. Gentex Air solutions provide ELGis Reciprocating Compressors that are robust and designed for optimum performance.
Reciprocating compressors work on the principle of reciprocation meaning to move something back and forth. They use cylinders with piston. Each cylinder has a closed end next to the cylinder head and finishes at the other end with a movable piston. Air moves into the cylinder via a suction valve during the first stage of compression that creates a suction vacuum. The reverse motion of the piston compresses the air. Once the cylinder’s interior pressure is higher than the pressure in the discharge pipes, air is let out through the valves. A compressor needs to operate within the limit of its duty cycle to maximize its service life. Reciprocating compressors are designed only for 20 to 30% full load time.
